Hearty, comforting and indulgent, this chicken cordon bleu casserole is one delicious family meal. Simple to make, this creamy and cheesy baked pasta dish is loaded with flavor, and will be a firm family favorite!
Preheat the oven to 350°. Cook pasta according to package directions for al dente.
Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, heat heavy cream and cream cheese over medium heat until smooth, stirring occasionally. Stir in 1 cup Swiss cheese, onion powder, garlic, thyme, salt and pepper until blended.
Drain pasta and transfer to a casserole dish. Stir in cooked chicken and ham. Add sauce and toss to coat.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese and the breadcrumbs on top. Bake, uncovered for 18-20 minutes or until heated through.
Garnish with green onions and chopped cooked bacon (optional). Serve warm.

Cook the pasta al dente. If you overcook it the pasta will become mushy as it will continue to cook in the oven.
Toss all of the ingredients together well so that everything is well coated in the creamy sauce.
You can use reduced fat cream cheese and half and half to reduce calories ad fat, by use full fat for the best tasting results.
Make this dish gluten-free by using your favorite GF pasta. You can use gluten-free breadcrumbs, or omit them.
