Why you will love this Bacon Wrapped Chicken recipe!
- Easy and quick: This is a great option for a weeknight meal as they are quick to prep and the cooking time is totally hands off. They are ready to enjoy in 30 minutes.
- Simple ingredients: There’s no fancy ingredients needed here, and I’m sure you’ll have most things on hand already.
- So delicious: This is a great weeknight family meal, but they are so tasty that you can easily serve them to guests at a dinner party.
- Healthy: This is naturally gluten-free, low carb, Paleo, and Whole30 protein rich meal that tastes amazing and everyone will love.
Ingredients
- Seasonings: Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and Italian seasoning. If you like a little bit of spicy kick to it, you could also add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder.
- Chicken breasts: Use boneless skinless chicken breast for this recipe. Use thick breasts and cut them in half (butterfly).
- Strips of bacon: Use a natural bacon that is free from nitrates. I prefer to use thin-cut bacon so it cooks perfectly for this recipe but I believe you could also use thick-cut bacon (you might need to increase the cooking time a little bit).
- Maple syrup and dijon mustard: This simple glaze adds a wonderful sweet and tangy flavor to the finished dish.

TIPS FROM NELI’S KITCHEN
Recipe Notes and Tips
- Wrap the bacon slices so that the ends are underneath the chicken breast so that it holds in place when it cooks.
- Use an instant read meat thermometer to make sure that your chicken wrapped with bacon is fully cooked through. It should register at 165F.
- Once the keto bacon wrapped chicken is cooked through, place it on a chopping board and cover loosely with foil for 5 to 10 minutes to rest. This will help it to get extra juicy and tender.
Can you make it ahead of time?
These baked bacon wrapped chicken breasts are best served as soon as they are cooked so that the chicken is nice and tender and the bacon is crispy. If you do have leftovers, they can be stored covered in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days and reheated in the oven at 360F for 10 to 15 minutes to warm through. You can season and wrap the chicken up to 24 hours ahead of time and store them in the fridge till you are ready to cook them.
Can you make it with chicken thighs?
It’s best to make this recipe with chicken breasts as their shape makes them easier to wrap. You can roll the thighs and then wrap the chicken with the bacon, but be aware that they will take longer to cook through.
What do you serve it with?
This bacon wrapped chicken is great to serve with all of your favorite veggie, potato, and salad side dishes. Try it with:
- Homemade French Fries
- Chef Salad
- Roasted Root Vegetables
- Mushrooms and Green Beans Recipe
- White rice or mushroom rice
