Ingredients for homemade Honey Mustard Sauce

    • Mayonnaise: Use a full fat mayonnaise for the creamiest and richest flavors. You can use low fat, but the sauce will be a little thinner.
    • Dijon Mustard: Dijon is a nice and tangy variety of mustard. You can make this with wholegrain or yellow mustard for a milder taste.
    • Honey: Use a natural honey for the best flavor and sweetness rather than an artificial one.
    • Seasonings: Garlic powder, salt and pepper.

    How long does it keep?

Once you have made your honey mustard sauce, transfer it to a sealable jar and keep it refrigerated for up to two weeks. Give it a stir before using it if the ingredients have separated. It’s best not to freeze this sauce as it contains mayonnaise.

What do you serve it with?

This honey mustard recipe can be used in so many ways! It’s a great salad dressing and dip, and is delicious as a spread in your favorite sandwiches. It’s also great to brush over chicken, salmon and meats before baking or grilling to add extra flavor to your plate.

Can you make it without mayonnaise?

The mayonnaise in this honey mustard dipping sauce helps to make it creamy and thick, without it you will have a thinner dressing or marinade. If you want to make this healthier, you can use low fat mayo, though this can result in a runnier sauce, otherwise sour cream or plain yogurt will make great replacements.
