This is one of my favorite homemade sauce recipes. So simple to make and I literally serve it with everything! Made with mayo and ketchup and some tangy seasonings, this fry sauce was made for dipping.
Be sure to make up a big batch because it will disappear so quickly!

Why you will love this recipe!
- Easy: Just mix your ingredients together and it’s ready to use in minutes!
- Simple ingredients: There’s nothing fancy about this sauce, just a handful of pantry staple ingredients and you are good to go!
- Make ahead: Quickly make up a batch of this fry sauce and enjoy it throughout the week.
Fry Sauce Ingredients
- Mayonnaise: I always opt for full-fat mayonnaise, like Hellmann’s or Duke’s for the best flavor and texture.
- Ketchup: Ketchup adds a great flavor and I love the color it adds to the sauce.
- Pickle Juice and Worcestershire Sauce: For a tangy and umami flavor.
- Seasonings: Smoked paprika, salt, chili powder and an optional pinch of cayenne.
How to make fry sauce
- In a small bowl mix mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle brine, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and paprika.
- Serve as a dip and enjoy!
How long does this dipping sauce keep?
This healthy fry sauce is ready to use straight away, but it will also keep well in the fridge for up to 5 days. Keep the sauce covered in a sealable jar or with plastic wrap to keep it as fresh a possible. It’s best not to freeze this sauce.
Recipe Variations
This fries sauce is super delicious as it is, but you can easily adapt it to suit your own tastes.
- Use a different mayo: I prefer full fat, but you can use a reduced-fat one if you prefer. You can also use a vegan mayo to make it plant-based or use Miracle Whip if you prefer the flavor.
- Mix up your spices: Try adding some black pepper, garlic, or onion powder. Add a little at a time until you get your preferred flavor.
- Make it spicy: Add in a little cayenne or Tabasco for a spicy fry sauce.
- Swap the pickle juice: If you don’t have pickle juice on hand, you can swap it for lemon juice or apple cider vinegar so you still get that nice tang.
What is fry sauce
It’s similar to Mississippi comeback sauce and to burger sauce. The fry sauce recipe has the same base ingredients – mayonnaise, ketchup, and paprika, but the remaining ingredients are slightly different. Nevertheless, all three of these sauces taste amazing!
Fry sauce – best dipping sauce
This fry sauce recipe is perfect for dipping sweet potato fries, wedges, homemade french fries, onion rings, and whatever else you like. It’s also great to use as a spread on sandwiches and burgers or in wraps. Use it wherever you would normally use mayo or ketchup!
