Ingredients for Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe
- Mayonnaise and sour cream: I like to use full fat mayo and sour cream for a rich and creamy flavor, but you can use low fat if you prefer.
- Milk: A little milk helps to thin the dressing so that it’ pourable. I used 2%.
- White wine vinegar: A little acid is needed to help balance out the creaminess. Apple cider vinegar or some fresh lemon juice will also work well.
- Blue cheese: Use your favorite blue cheese.
- Seasonings: Garlic powder, salt, pepper and chives.
How to make blue cheese dressing
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl until well incorporated.
- Chill for a minimum of 30 minutes prior to serving.
How long does it keep?
This chunky blue cheese dressing will keep well for around 5 days in the fridge. Keep it in a sealed bottle or jar, or a covered bowl to keep it fresh. It’s best not to freeze this as the texture will change quite considerably.
What’s the best blue cheese to use?
You can use your favorite blue cheese in this dressing. If you like a stronger flavor, then you can use Stilton or Roquefort, or for a milder flavor use a Danish Blue or Gorgonzola.
Serving suggestions
This homemade blue cheese dressing recipe is perfect to accompany your favorite salads and it’s perfect when spread on a burger as a topping. It makes for a great dipping sauce for crudites as well as for wings, fries, and pretty much anything else!
