Follow my easy steps for how to juice a pomegranate:
- Place pomegranate seeds in a blender
- Pulse and blend the seeds a few times until they break apart and release their juice.
- Using a mesh strainer, pour the pomegranate liquid into the strainer over a bowl.
- Use the back of a spoon to gently push against the pomegranate pulp and extract as much juice as possible. The pulp should be relatively dry when you have extracted all the juice.

TIPS FROM NELI’S KITCHEN
Recipe Notes and Tips
- If using a fresh pomegranate, make sure that it is ripe for the best flavor. It should be heavy for its size and firm to the touch.
- I used a high-speed blender, but a medium-speed blender will do the job well. You could also use a juicer.
- Use a double mesh strainer if you have one to decrease the amount of pulp in the pomegranate juice.
- Use an apron when making the juice because pomegranate juice stains.
Can you use frozen pomegranate seeds?
You can either make this juice starting with a whole pomegranate and removing the seeds, or, buy the seeds from the store either chilled or frozen. It’s pretty simple to remove the seeds from a pomegranate, but make it easier on yourself by buying the arils ready to use.
How much juice does one pomegranate make?
One pomegranate will yield around half a cup of juice, so when using a fresh pomegranate, this method for juicing a pomegranate is definitely budget-friendly compared to buying it in the store.
How long does it keep?
The fresh pomegranate juice will keep well, in a sealable bottle or jar, for around 5 days in the fridge. You can also freeze the juice for up to a year. If freezing, be sure to leave room in the container to allow it to expand.
What do you use it in?
This pomegranate juice can easily be enjoyed by itself, but it does have quite a strong flavor. I like to dilute it with some seltzer or soda, and sometimes I add some fresh lemon juice. It’s also great to add to smoothies, salad dressings, to make a grenadine syrup, pomegranate molasses, or even add to a winter sangria or cocktail.
