ABC juice – short for apple, beetroot, and carrot juice – is like a superhero trio in a glass! This juice boasts a vibrant color and a sweet, earthy, and refreshing taste that feels like a little pick-me-up with every sip.

A couple of years ago, I was on a special 3-month raw food diet for medical reasons, and I used to drink a slightly modified version of this juice. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t get enough of its vibrant flavor! Whether you’re craving a tasty pick-me-up or something delightfully wholesome, this juice fits the bill. Cheers to nature’s power-packed juice!

If you’re looking for something bright, fresh, and tasty, ABC juice is a fantastic choice that’s sure to become a favorite. Made with just a few simple ingredients, this juice is bursting with vibrant color, natural sweetness, and refreshing flavor.

  • Granny Smith Apples: I prefer green apples, but any apples you have on hand will work and each one will bring a unique flavor to the juice.
  • Beets: A powerhouse of vegetables, you can use regular red beets or golden ones for the juice.
  • Carrots: Vibrant and delicious, any variety you have on hand will work.
  • Fresh ginger (optional): Use fresh gingerroot instead of powder for optimal flavor.
  • Lemon (optional): Even though this is optional, I love the fresh citrus flavor it adds to the juice.

Recipe Tips For the Best ABC Juice

  • Make sure you quarter and core the apple so that your juicer doesn’t have to work as hard.
  • Adding in some lemon juice to the mixture is a bright and sunny flavor addition.
  • As you feed the ingredients to the juicer, alternate between them to allow for even mixing.

How To Make It Without a Juicer

If you don’t have a juicer on hand, don’t worry! ABC juice can be made with a high-powered blender.

To use this technique, chop your ingredients into smaller pieces first. Then, add them to a blender and pour in filtered water or coconut water to cover them.

Blend on high for a few minutes before straining the pulp through a cheesecloth. This might take a few attempts as it builds up.

Flavor Variations

Below are a few additions and swaps you can add to make your juice unique.

  • Pomegranate: Add a punch of antioxidants by popping in some pomegranate arils and juice directly from the fruit.
  • Citrus: Adding some freshly squeezed lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit juice can be a great uplift.
  • Fizz: If you’re using this juice to sip on in cool weather, adding in some carbonated Perrier once it’s made and ready to serve can make it feel like a treat.

Storing The Juice

Store leftover juice in a jar with a lid in the fridge for up to 48 hours. You can store it longer but if you want to reap all the nutritional benefits of the juice, I would recommend no more than 48 hours. You’ll want to give the jar a shake before you enjoy it.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use frozen fruits and vegetables to make ABC juice?

Frozen vegetables can definitely work when making juice. Just make sure to let them thaw before you juice them.

How can I adjust the flavor of ABC juice?

To adjust the flavor simply adjust the ratio of ingredients. Beets are naturally very sweet so add more of them and scale back on the ginger if you have a sweeter palate. Or, add in some citrus to balance it out.
