TIPS FROM NELI’S KITCHEN

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • Use fresh lemon juice rather than bottled. This will give you the best flavor as well as having more health benefits.
  • You can easily adapt this lemon and honey tea recipe to suit your tastes by adding more lemon juice or honey.

How do you sweeten lemon tea?

I like to use a little natural honey to sweeten the hot lemon tea, and you can use as much or as little as you like. To make this drink vegan, you can use maple syrup instead. You can also use non-natural sweeteners like granulated sugar or stevia if that’s what you have to hand.

Can you drink it warm or cold?

In the winter, I like to enjoy this drink as soon as I’ve made it, but it makes for a great cold drink too. Make up the drink, let it cool completely, and then place it in the fridge to chill. You can then serve this iced lemon tea over ice for a refreshing drink on a hot day.

Can you make it ahead of time?

This tea with lemon recipe makes enough for one drink, but it is easily doubled and tripled. You can make a larger batch and then keep it in the fridge for up to a week. You can enjoy it cold or heat it gently on the stovetop to serve it warm.
