ingredients for golden latte
  • Milk: Any milk you have on hand will work for the recipe. However, oat milk, almond milk, or higher-fat versions like coconut milk will give the latte a richer taste.
  • Ground turmeric: If you’re drinking this latte for immune-boosting reasons, make sure to use a high-quality turmeric powder.
  • Spices: You’ll also need a dash of ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and a pinch of ground black pepper from your cupboard. You are welcome to customize your beverage with these optional warming spices – cardamom, nutmeg, allspice, or clove.
  • Honey: Though maple syrup or another sweetener will work just as well, honey brings down the bitterness of the turmeric the best.
  • Coconut oil (optional):

Recipe Tips From The Test Kitchen

  • You can use a saucepan to heat the milk if you don’t have a frother. To do this, heat it over medium heat until nearly simmering and then whisk it until frothy. Take care not to burn it.
  • Once you add the milk and froth, you can use a handheld frothing wand to fluff it up even more. This is my favorite milk frother (affiliate link).
  • If you’re brand new to making turmeric lattes, use a lighter portion of the turmeric powder. As your taste buds adjust, work your way up to a full teaspoon.

Recipe Variations

You can easily adjust this golden milk latte to create something new every time you whip it up. Below are a few variations I love.

  • Extra cinnamon: To give it a coffee shop feel, sprinkle some extra cinnamon on top of the frothed milk before serving it.
  • Extracts: Both almond and vanilla extract are delicious ways to change the taste of the latte. Add in just a tiny amount and enjoy the new flavors.
  • Iced turmeric latte: Enjoy this latte recipe cold by whipping it up and letting it cool in the fridge. Then, give the latte a stir before pouring it over top of ice cubes with a splash of more milk. Adjust the sweetness as per your taste buds and enjoy.

Storing And Reheating

This turmeric latte is best enjoyed immediately if you plan to drink it warm. However, you’ll be able to whip it up for the next day.

To store the latte, let it cool completely before pouring it into a mason jar and tightening the lid. Place it in the refrigerator for a day.

When you want to enjoy it, either serve it chilled over ice or bring it up to a simmer in a saucepan on the stove. You may need to add a splash more milk or sweetener after you taste-test it.
