In a trifle bowl, layer lettuce sprinkle with salt, and top with red onion. Place egg slices around the side of the bowl, pressing into the side so they stick. Add cherry tomatoes. cucumbers, and green peas on top in a single layer.
Make the dressing by mixing together the mayo, sour cream, vinegar, hot sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour the dressing over the salad. Top with shredded cheese and bacon bits. Cover and chill for 6 to 24 hours in the refrigerator. Serve cold.
