Why you will love this ginger tea recipe

    • Quick: It only takes about 10 minutes to make this tea, and most of that time is hands-off. It’s perfect to enjoy halfway through a busy day.
    • Natural Ingredients: Naturally sweetened, this 3 ingredient tea is full of goodness.
    • Zesty! Ginger and lemon are such a great combination of flavors! This really wakes up your tastebuds!

    Ingredients

    • Ginger root: With a warming and spicy flavor, ginger is loaded with antioxidants and is an anti-inflammatory.
    • Lemon: Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor and the highest amounts of vitamin C, folate, and potassium.
    • Honey: If you can, use raw and natural honey rather than an artificial one. You can also skip the sweetener if you want a zero-calorie drink.

How to make Lemon Ginger Tea

    • Place the sliced ginger in a small saucepan, and cover with 2.5 cups of water. Bring water to boil and simmer for about 5 minutes. Let the tea steep for at least 5 minutes (or up to 10 minutes).
    • Pour the liquid into 2 cups through a fine-mesh strainer to catch the large ginger pieces, then serve warm with a squeeze of a half fresh lemon per each cup and honey, to taste.

Honey ginger tea is a caffeine-free and non-alcoholic beverage that aids digestion, helps soothe upset stomachs, and can reduce nausea. And it might help with morning sickness during pregnancy as well. Some other lemon ginger tea benefits include:

    • Boosts immunity
    • Improves stomach performance
    • Reduce inflammation
    • Fights respiratory problems
    • Improves blood circulation
    • Ward off germs
    • Relieves menstrual discomfort
    • Relieves stress

Can you make it ahead of time?

This honey lemon ginger tea recipe is easily doubled, so I often make a bigger batch to enjoy through the week. Once you have made the whole recipe, let it cool before storing it in an airtight container. It will keep well for up to a week.

    Can you drink it cold?

This homemade ginger lemon tea can be enjoyed warm or cold. In the winter it’s a wonderful warming beverage, and in the summer, you can serve it over ice for a cooling drink. Either way, it’s super delicious!

    Is it vegan?

Because this lemon ginger tea is sweetened with honey, it is not vegan. However, you can simply swap the honey for maple syrup to make this plant-based. You can also use a non-natural sweetener like granulated sugar or stevia if that’s what you have.
