Seasoned Salt Ingredients
You may be wondering what is seasoned salt. It’s simply salt mixed with some spices that you can season any kind of meat with. It’s a great substitute for store-bought Lawry’s seasoned salt.
- Salt: I like to use kosher salt for this seasoning. It has caorser grains and is gentler than table salt. It enhances the flavor of the food without making them taste salty.
- Pepper: Use fine ground pepper so that it combines easily with the other ingredients.
- Other seasonings: Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and turmeric.
How to make seasoned salt
- Mix salt, pepper, and all spices together well.
- Store in an airtight container.
How long does it keep?
Depending on the freshness of your spices, this seasoned salt will keep well for up to 6 months. Keep it stored in an airtight container or sealable jar in a cupboard to keep it as fresh for as long as possible.
How do you use this homemade seasoned salt?
This seasoning salt is a great way to elevate your dishes and you can use it on so many ingredients. It’s great to season homemade fries or use it as a rub on steaks, chicken, and fish before cooking. It’s great to rub on baked chicken breasts and it’s perfect if you are grilling a steak!
Why make your own seasoning salt?
Are you wondering what is in seasoned salt you buy at the grocery store? I love making my own seasonings as you can control exactly what goes into them. You can easily add in other spices and herbs to suit your tastes, add a little cayenne for a spicier seasoning, or add in some dried oregano for a herby flavor. It also contains no shelf stabilizers and is a lot cheaper than buying a mix from a store.
