How long do you cook asparagus wrapped with bacon

I find that it takes between 15 to 18 minutes in a 400 F oven to get that perfectly crispy bacon and tender asparagus. It’s important that you watch the asparagus towards the end to make sure it doesn’t get too soft.

Can you make them ahead of time?

This oven baked bacon wrapped asparagus is best served fairly soon after you bake it so that the asparagus is nice and firm. You can wrap the asparagus in the bacon up to a day ahead of time and then cook it when you are ready to serve.

If you do have leftovers, you can reheat them in the oven at 370F until warmed through.

How do you prep asparagus?

Rinse the asparagus under cold water to remove any dirt. Remove the woody ends by snapping them off, they will break naturally without too much pressure. Pat them dry before wrapping with the bacon.

Do you need to pre-cook the bacon?

There is no need to pre-cook the bacon for this bacon wrapped asparagus recipe. Use thin bacon and it will crisp up nicely in the oven. If you use thick-cut bacon, you may want to bake it in the oven for 10 minutes before wrapping it to ensure that it crisps up.

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • This recipe is delicious as it is, but if you like, you can drizzle over some maple syrup or brown sugar before baking for a sweet and salty bite.
  • Use thin bacon for this recipe otherwise, the bacon will not be cooked through and crispy when the asparagus is ready.
